WHAT TO DO IN DALVÍK

We at Hotel Dalvík are lucky to have a lot of good neighbors who provide
great activities here around Dalvík. We can also provide guides if you want to
go mountain biking, hiking or just travel around for sightseeing.

The birdwatching is also very popular here around Dalvík area and just few
minutes away from the hotel there is a famous bird sanctuary.

Horseback Ride

A guided tour in the beautiful nature of Svarfaðardalur. This horse riding tour takes you on a ride along the river banks in the valley where there is a lot of birdlife during the summer.

Hiking

The mountains around Dalvík are perfect for hiking and around Dalvík there are multiple hiking routes. There is a hiking map of the Dalvík area in the reception and also we can provide guided tours around the mountains with a days or more notice.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool in Dalvík is located just next to the hotel and is open all year round, the geothermical hot water that is used for the pool makes sure that the temperatures always stays the same. The view from the swimming pool makes the pool one of the most popular places to go for a swim or just meet the locals at the hot tub on site.

Whale Watching

Whale watching from the Dalvík area is of course unique, the two companies that operate whale watching have 99% sighting rate in their tours.
The whales that are likeliest to be seen are the humpback whale, mink whale, harbor porpoises and white beaked dolphins. The tours leave from Dalvík and Hauganes all year around. Some of the tours include sea angling.

Golf

The Golf course Arnarholtsvöllur is a 9 hole par 72 golfcourse in the heart of Svarfaðardalur valley. The golf course is one of the most popular outdoor areas in Dalvík. The golf course is built on fields that keep one of the most famous Icelandic sagas.

Ski Area

The Ski Area in Dalvík is located just above the town it self only 10 minutes walk. There are two ski lifts and a ski equipment rent as well so you do not have to bring anything with you except your good mood and warm clothes

Mountain Biking

The mountains in the troll peninsula are really popular among mountain bikers. The slopes and hills around Dalvík are truly amazing. The variety of routes and trails around Dalvík are almost endless, perfect both for beginners and those who are experienced. The hotel can help with arranging a guide if requested.

Grímsey Island

The ferry to Grímsey island leaves from Dalvik 6 days a week during summer and 3 times a week during winter. The arctic circle goes through the island so it is possible to cross the arctic circle. In Grímsey it is also possible to go puffin watching. Grímsey has the biggest puffin population in Iceland. It is possible to go on guided tours around the island and that is amazing experience.

Beer Spa

The Beer bath, where you bathe in young beer, live beer yeast, hops, water, beer oil and beer salt. The beer used for the bath is in the early stages of fermentation, and at that stage the beer has very low pH which will tighten and soften your hair follicles and is cleansing for your hair and skin.

Hrísey Island

A tour to Hrísey Island is one of a kind, the ferry goes from Árskógströnd 7 minutes drive from Dalvík and it takes about 7 minutes to sail over to the Island, hiking on the island is one of a kind and perfect for families, it is also possible to go for a tractor ride with the locals

Fishing

Fishing for the arctic char or sea trout is a really popular sport here in Iceland. Next to Dalvík we have a great river and a beautiful lake where it is possible to fish for arctic char and sea trout. We at the hotel can provide fishing licenses.
